PENERAPAN METODE DRILL TERHADAP PITCH CONTROL PADA PADUAN SUARA SONORE CHOIR PENDIDIKAN MUSIK GEREJA INSTITUT AGAMA KRISTEN NEGERI (IAKN) TARUTUNG

Abstract

This research was conducted at Sonore Choir at IAKN Tarutung, a community engaged in choir at the Church Music Education Study Programme. Sonore Choir actively innovates to achieve performance quality that meets choir standards, both at regional, national, and international levels. The main focus of this research is the application of the drill method in the use of pitch control, the stages of practice performed to maintain pitch control while singing, and the results obtained from the application of the method. Using descriptive qualitative method, data was collected through observation, documentation, video, and interviews. The results showed that the drill method helped significantly in maintaining pitch control through repeated practice, which increased members' sensitivity to pitch resulting in more precise performances. Consistent application of the drill method is recommended to maximise results in choir practice and performance.
