MENGUAK KHAZANAH AL-QUR'AN: INTEGRASI ULUMUL QUR'AN, METODE TAFSIR DAN PENDEKATAN SUFI DALAM PENELITIAN TAFSIR TEMATIK

Abstract

Thematic interpretation research (maudhu’i) is one of the approaches in the study of the Qur’an that emphasizes the discussion of a particular theme by combining various related verses. Although it has developed with various approaches such as linguistic, historical and philosophical-integration between Ulumul Qur’an, conventional interpretation methods, and Sufi approaches has not been widely explored. This article aims to examine the synergy of the three disciplines in enriching the understanding of the Qur’an, both in terms of language (zahir), historical context, and spiritual dimension (batin). Using qualitative methods, literature analysis and comparative studies, this study found that the integrative approach not only broadens the scope of interpretation but also offers depth of textual and esoteric meaning. The combination of Ulumul Qur’an (such as asbab an-nuzul and munasabat al-ayat), interpretation methods (selective or comprehensive), and Sufi perspectives (such as isyari and kasyfi) can produce a holistic interpretation. This article also evaluates the challenges and criticisms of the Sufi approach in interpretation, while offering epistemological solutions to maintain the balance between shari'ah and hakikat. The results show that the integration of these three elements provides a more comprehensive perspective in understanding the messages of the Qur'an.
