Abstract

Islamic education is an integrated educational system that combines spiritual, intellectual, moral, and social dimensions to shape the ideal human being (insan kamil). This article examines the foundations, principles, objectives, and functions of Islamic education as the basis for developing a character-based educational concept that remains relevant to contemporary challenges. Through a literature review, it is revealed that Islamic education not only on knowledge transmission but also on akhlak building and the integration of tawhid values into everyday life. History demonstrates that Islamic education is adaptive to social changes without losing its identity. A comprehensive understanding of these components is expected to strengthen the implementation of education that balances intellectual and moral intelligence.
